Oh, I know why all these high level careers suck. Because you are competing with other super-driven people all with Ivy Leauge degrees and 800 GMATS. Getting to the top in a field flooded with these types is stressful and near impossible.
Jobs that don't suck are in industries where just average joes work, and where a bright guy willing to work 45 hours a week (which seems like a long week to everyone else working 40 hrs) can easily rise to the top and be a big fish in a small pond. |

I agree that it is competitive. But, I kind of like what I do, and that makes me work hard. I want my work to mean something good and to be proud of it. Maybe you are just feeling burnt out Bob_d. Trust me I have been there. Working those long hours will make even a workaholic miserable. Maybe you take a good vacation when you get the first chance and take some time to reflect on what you really enjoy doing and follow that. Life is too short to hate what you do. Of course, all work is still work, but you can still derive some pleasure from it if it makes you proud. Take care of yourself.
