Should recruiters know your GMAT score? |

Some recruiters, especially in MC, ask about your GMAT scores during interviews.
The GMAT, according to ETS brochure, is supposed to be used ONLY for b-school admission. That is, the ETS only reports GMAT scores to b-schools, and b-schools shouldn't share it with anyone else.
If this is true, then how can recruiters find out whether you lie about your score to them?

I would imagine that a firm could ask this, then ask you (or at least a randomly selected of "auditees") to have ETS forward the scores to them.
I *think* ETS would do this if ok'd by the test-taker. They do send scores out to non-schools in some cases, e.g. scholarship boards ... so it's not *strictly* sent to schools.
Alternatively, the firm could ask you to have ETS send *you* a copy of your scores (if you don't still have a copy). They could simply look at an ETS original which they ask you to provide.

This is similar to the situation some firms (esp., consulting & I-banks) have at some schools which do not release students' class ranks or grades. I know of at least one MBA program which has this policy ... however, students are not prohibited from disclosing their *own* grades ... so some firms ask the students to self-disclose.
