Yes, SAP consultants have more or less loss the lustre.
But SAP itself is reengineering itself into a full-blown Internet-based reengineering tool-kit for an enterprise.
Yes, the current layoffs are rather the non-matching between SAP Functional consultants who are out of job with the push for more technological (e-enabled) oriented SAP consultant.
Go for SAP, build your technical skills and get up to speed with SAP's Best Practices business models for the various industries.
