I'm a senior in college and recently became engaged. The ring is very large and attracts attention which might be the problem. I'm interviewing with a high-power strategic consulting firm and was wondering if I shouldn't even wear the ring during the interview? Both my fiance and I wouldn't mind if I took it off for the interviews, but should I even worry about this? It's always weird talking about personal matters during interviews and I could only see how it would conjure up negative or neutral responses, nothing positive. Any insights? |

I am a professional recruiter for a medium size company. Just last week my colleagues and I had this very same discussion. We all agreed that it should be a non-issue, but also realized that it usually is not. Therefore, err on the side of caution. Leave the rock at home until you get the job! My mother who owns her own business always told me as a child, "...if you need something from someone, never let (him or her) know you have more than they do!" I have lived by that, and I too left my ring at home when I was in the marker whether the appt was with a male or female.
Good Luck!
