Hello everyone,
I'm a business major, hoping to get into consulting industry. My academic adviser is almost forcing me to take econometrics as an elective. however, i have not heard many positive comments about that class, and i fear that although it would might be useful it will make my gpa drop. I would rather go for a financial investment class instead.
Will i be at any disadvantage if i do not have econometrics on my transcript?

People with econometrics are much less common than people with an investments class.
And, if you can get a decent grade in econometrics, it is pretty clear you can run circle around most undergrads with a B or better in investments.
Thus, I would think that having a B or better in econometrics would differentiate your resume & make you stand out.
And, if you can't manage an A or B in undergrad econometrics (assuming you have the pre-reqs), you don't stand a chance in consulting.
And, imagine this ... you will learn a really useful set of tools.
