In Reply To: It's a tough job market out there this year... Does anyone have any idea what 1st year analyst compensation packages are looking like? I was just offered $50K with no additional bonuses, and I'm wondering if that's a low-ball figure. I know in past years that would be approaching laughable, but it is on par for this year? Any ideas?!?...
Message: I haven't heard of any firms eliminating performance bonuses. The idea is that the performance bonus compensates you for all the times you're working in the office till sunrise practicing your Spanish with the cleaning crew while your coworkers are at home sleeping or watching Survivor. My impression is that firms have (a) lowered the base (b) lowered the upper end of the performance bonus and (c) raised the standards such that the par performance is lower than in the past. $50K with no signing or performance bonus is a bit low, IMHO, but you should be happy just to have an offer. There are firms paying more than this, and there are plenty of consultants being paid a few beans a week from unemployment insurance.
