I am a high school senior and I'm having a hard time selecting a college. Although I know it is apt to change, right now I would like to prepare for a career in IB or Consulting. I have already been accepted into UMN-Twin Cities Carlson School for Finance + Economics double major, and probably the honors program, which is my safety school because I will receive in state tuition. I also plan on applying to Yale, Penn, Duke, and UChicago, and expect to get into at least one for Economics.
I am wondering if I will benefit significantly by going to one of the more presitgious schools as opposed to UMN? Is recruiting much better at the better schools assuming I will have similar stats? Also, for B-School down the line, will my decision matter much? Any other input you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks... |

if you go to UMN, you will regret it for the rest of your life. first of all, the average gpa at a top school like yale is mid 3 - bc they hand out A's. so you'll be working your ass off for no reason at umn. also, UMN probably isn't even a recruiting stop at the companies you want to work for. it's a no-brainer.
