In Reply To: If firms use credit hostory at all, it is usually in a post-interview situation, often post-offer ("passing" is a stated condition of the offer.) So, at least with the firms I know of, it would not be a factor in pre-screening you out. Usually, you will know when a credit check is being undertaken, as most firms will ask you to sign a waiver / authorization ... so, unless you've been asked to do so, it probably has not been an issue for you so far. === Also, can't you ask the credit reporting agencies to incorporate your comments when there is an inaccuracy / questionable line item?
Message: Unfortunately, I'm pretty certain the credit reporting companies would not include any comments from me - though I can do that with the firm directly once they ask for a waiver. Indeed, as I recently learned, for a company to check your credit, they have to get your permission and you can also see who has recently obtained your credit report on the credit report itself. Thanks for the info.
