hm. could be allmost anything. some phds are simply too geeky to make a real chance. lack of business speak could also be working against you. or, it could really be the cases, in which case you simply need to practice, a lot! |

I agree w/ MTCY... There are many different variables for whether or not your proceed past the first round. Presentability is a big one. I remember at a case interview workshop sponsored by a M/B/B for APDS that there were about 15 of us. Honestly, I could take one look at the candidates and tell you who would have absolutely no chance of getting past the first round. Looking the part is extremely important. Second, I BOMBED my first case interview with a firm that later made me an offer... It was easily the worst case I had ever done. I had no idea how to answer it. I finally just blurted out what I thought the "answer" was. However, I had really bonded with and impressed the interviewer before that, and I believe that my poor case showing was compensated for by other qualities that I brought to the table. In short, be presentable, practice the hell out of the cases, be able to tell a great story about every point on your resume, and cross your fingers.
Good luck.
