What makes you think I am a WASP to begin with? I already speak some Spanish and my wife is a native Spanish speaker. America will continue to speak English for the foreseeable future. If you do not speak English in America, you will be doomed to low paying jobs (except Miami).
Besdies that, I agree that just going and bombing the general population of Afghanistan is NOT the correct solution. Attacking the terrorists is. The news just had a big story of Americans giving tons of money to Afghan refugees. I don't know which country you are from, but I can make a pretty good guess that it does not contribute more money than the US to foreign countries (or virtually any country for that matter.
You make a lot of assumptions about me and yet, you do not know me (and never will). I know how international this country is and is becoming. I live in a neighborhood that is probably 60% foreign born. I don't know why you directed your rant towards me. |

It is not directly related but I think it can help to view it differently.
Though US is the first ABSOLUTE contributor to UN, San Marino is giving $US4/habs where US only $US1/habs (I am not from San Marino).
It is easy to show big figures when you have a lot's of money. What is important is not the absolute amount of money but what it really means to your wallet. US is probably number one in absolute value, but I would easily bet that scandinavian country give a lot more money proportionally to their size (I am not scandinavian :-) ).
I am sure we also all know that a part of the food sends to poor countries by US is a way to give subvention to US farmers (I do not judge it, it is just, in my opinion, a fact. Whether it is good or bad thing is not my subject). Once again, it is a tricky problem with a lot's of dimensions.
Think before. Act after.
