In Reply To: It's STILL the 'old people' who get screwed. I am one. 39, so just 4 months before I'd be able to take them to court with the EEOC. They kept 4 people below me with about 1/4 of my experience, but obviously less salary burden. Stress...you face stress...I'll give you stress. Have a top ten MBA, a mortgage, a wife, a son, and get s**tcanned with no notice, no severance, no vacation pay, no medical. Spend 8-10 hours a day for 3 months to produce a grand total of 2 interviews! Get called back on one only to be cancelled because now that New York's blown up, their customer base is in the tank, and they will soon be too. The only reason there are young people like yourself getting the shaft is that companies who got bilked for Billions in fees in the Y2K software implementation scam in the late 90's WOKE UP and cancelled their consulting contracts in the face of plummeting business. The game's over. The sad thing for me is, you'll get hired back faster, as you have a few more years of life to be ground out of you before you hit my age where no one wants to mess with you. I'm at the unspoken manadatory retirement age for your line of work. This whole thing will get much, much worse before it gets better.
Message: Hi, Well, I'm only 25, but I'm sometimes involved in consulting projects in IT and sometimes our teams need extra people. I felt touched after reading your message, and also read your other message about your skills, so while I can't promise anything, it might be useful to have your CV on me (if you don't mind doing short bursts in Central Europe or Russia. If possible, please send me your CV to eskr@mail.ru Regards, and keep it up, pal. Euge.
