I'm curious to know more about how a Masters degree in Financial Engineering will help me (or whether it will help me at all) get my foot in the door, as an associate (as opposed to an analyst) in a management consulting or investment banking firm.
I currently have a bachelors degree in finance/economics from an ivy league school. I am curious as to whether a Masters in Financial Engineering would help me make the leap from analyst to associate entry level, and whether it would be useful at all for a career in i-banking or consulting.
Any input would be appreciated! |

The CFA program is more or less felt to be a sufficient addition to a top MBA for trading related careers in i-banks. If you wish you can enrol for the CFA after getting a top MBA and joining into the i-bank of choice and while at the MBA you can also keep your focus on strategy subjects - i.e., if you want to spread your choices to both trading and consulting careers!!
