I met someone this summer who is going to Duke/Fuqua b-school. Prior to school, he was a recruiter as well.
In terms of b-school, your grades will be helped by your GMAT. From what I can see, I'm at Univ of Michigan now, the people that make it into b-schools are definitely not only ex-bankers and consultants. In fact, depending on the school (like Michigan, and possibly Kellogg and Duke, which are all programs with strong strategy consulting recruiting), they may be in the minority.

The last several messages are absolutely right. My test score was in the 99th percentile and everyone went nuts, even though my experience was nothing compared to my classmates. Do well on the test and you'll get in. Good luck.
