In Reply To: Ivey is still your best shot in Canada at a top tier consulting firm. Just don't expect an easy in just for graduating from a top school. These firms are considered top tier for a reason. They mean it when they say they are looking for the best of the best. If you don't have a GPA of at least 3.5 (preferrably 3.7+) you will have an uphill battle. Even with the grades, you still must be able to show your stuff in a case interview. After all that, you have to consider fit. Consulting is about more than being exceptionally bright (though intelligence is still a pre-requisite). You must also be adept at client relations, and it helps if you are fun person to be around. Consultants work some pretty intense hours at times and nobody likes to be around a grouch. Leave the cutthroat, backstabbing stuff for the Law students. You need to be passionate about seeing your clients succeed. In other words, don't go to a Canadian school if you are looking for a shortcut into elite consulting. There aren't any.
Message: Does anybody know how the recruiting went at Ivey this year? Though the recruiting at most of the B-Schools has not been as promising as it has been during previous years, I am intersted in finding out the no of hires and salary offers made by consulting firms(Mckinsey, NCG, Bain, Deloitte Consulting) and Investment Banks(Wall Strret Banks, Royal Bank, TD, CIBC etc)? Any information in this regard is appreciated.
