As an undergrad with a low GPA (low 3s) who had to work part time (30 hours/week), I know this story too well.
If the consulting firm does not want to meet you because of a low GPA, then it is probably not a place you want to be anyway. They are not going to change their opinions & I'd suggest you look elsewhere.
That is especially true if you are planning to go to b-school. The consulting firms will be all over you after you finish -- I know, I just did.
If you find that the big firms (BCG, McKinsey, etc.) turn you away, try looking at the boutiques or specialists. There are a ton of boutiques that will give you great experience and will have all the same contacts in b-school admissions offices.
