In Reply To: In several days, I have an interview with a top consulting shop. Today I was sent an email from HR indicating that I would need to take an Analytical Test. I am a little surprised. I have a very strong record of 8+ years of management consulting experience with top firms, and I am interviewing for a fairly senior role. I was prepared for a possible "Quant Case" or some problem solving, but this is a 45 minute exam with 30 math problems. Is this normal? I have not heard of this before. What would a test like this be like? Is this essentially the math portion of the GMAT? Should I be insulted by this request? This is afterall a first-round interview.
Message: What an insult! 8+ years experience and they want you to take a test? I somehow doubt this firm is a "top firm" A top firm would have more respect for someone's experience and skills. That's why I hate dealing with HR people. They have no clue what the business is about or how to gauge a candidate's true caliber. I would suggest contacting a sr staff member.
