Hello,
I am looking for some advice on the importance of thank you letters. I just had a first round phone interview with a strategy consulting firm and I am not sure whether a thank you letter to my interviewer is necessary. I've read two management consulting books. One recommends a thank you letter after every round of interviews while the other has a strong stance against thank you letters at any point in the recruiting cycle (stating that at best, the letter will get thrown away and at worst, will be an opportunity for the candidate to make a stupid mistake). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

Having a thank you letter never helps much. But when all the other applicants have one and you don't...it hurts you.
Spell check and grammar check before you send it off. But although having one may never help you, not having one could hurt you.
