I strongly disagree with the previous posting. There may be no official, physical black list. But the mgt consulting world (and investment banking world) is incredibly small. The chance of this move going undiscovered is NOT insignificant.
You may not understand what a big deal what you're suggesting is. When that occurs here at CBS, the head of recruiting usually calls a meeting to speak with the Dean of the school and the head people in the Career Office. If a student does this in his/her first year, they are prohibited from ever using Career Services in any way.
Moreover, you may want to consider the message this might say to your potential new employer. It is considered quite an ethical breach -- do you want that stain on your history? |

I have an offer from a big 5. I have around a 3.8 (ugrad) from an ivy. I have interviewed with several strategy firms but have been dinged so far. I want to keep interviewing in january with the few left but my offer explodes soon and i dont think i can have it extended any longer. Given that i will have time over new year's to improve my case study skills (i've been real busy) i think i hold a better chance in january.
My offer says explicitly that it is not a contract.
In theory they can do the same to me and I know of companies who have done this. AT Kearney, MMG...
I run a big risk declining the offer...
Any suggestions???
