Could you tell what the busniess analysts at Mck do? I am currently in a financial leadership development program at a pharmaceutical co. I would like to know if our experiences are similar. Thank you. |

Stereotypically, BAs at McKinsey spend their first year basically working on the very quantitative elements of a study: they'll put together the very sophisticated models, e.g., pricing models, valuation, simulation, etc. It's important that a BA do at least one (and usually many more) gig like this in their first year to demonstrate strong quant skills.
BAs will also do a lot of the more rote consulting work, like writing up interview notes or researching a client or issue (actually, the BA will basically run research, the RNI -- research and information -- team will actually get on Dow Jones, First Call, etc to get the info).
In their second year, the BA will transition to a more associate like role. They'll still get the quantitative roles, but they'll also take over larger pieces of the deck and start crafting the storyline.
I don't know much about your leadership program, but I suspect you'd find a fair bit of overlap.
