I am a US citizen with 5 years IT project management experience.. now i have admission to two top US MBA programs: Darden and NYU
My postMBA goals are to seek a mgmt consulting position in a top strategy consulting firm such as Bain/BCG/McKinsey in the UK.. I want to move to UK for personal and professional reasons..
My question is.. what is the best way to get a summer internship.. or even perm. placement @ one of these top firms' London office.. what are some top UK firms that do strategy consulting?
What would be a better school to attend... NYU or Darden?(considering both school's general and international reputation) .. whcih has better name recognition in Uk/Europe?
What kind of basic salary can i expect .. what kind of bonus and benefits are available to fresh MBAs..
considering that UK taxes are an astronomical 40% + 12 % insurance.. (not too sure how this works).. what are the different ways companies compensate thier employees? reiumburesments etc? i have noticed some companies give consultants cars.. this is unlike what generally happens in the US.. correct? what are other ways/means used by companies to attract the best talent?
I believe i have very relevant work experience.. not strategy mgmt.. but my technical and proj mgmt background is very similar to what mgmt consultants do.. kind of.. how can i leverage this background..
all help is appreciated.. also.. UK based jobsearch/recruiting firms that specialize in mgmt consulting jobs..career advisors.. and anyone with any info, do please get intouch with me.. ! thanks ..

Why not try a UK or European MBA if that is where you want to live ultimately? It opens more doors (theoretically since you are in Europe already) and certainly gives you a more international resume? The app deadlines in Europe haven't passed yet.
Darden has an international placement office, but I don't know how many US students actually use the system.
