In Reply To: "no one at these firms or at top MBAs seem to take them seriously" Have you taken a poll? Are you just speculating? Are you basing your conclusion on what a few of your classmates said? I hope you're not basing your conclusions on what a few 24 year old kids have been ranting about on these boards. By the the way, Raj Gupta seems to take Accenture VERY seriously. So you seemed to have missed at least one person in your poll. For someone who admits having no experience in the industry, you seem to know a lot. By the way, if you go back and actually read the previous posts, you'll see that it's the others who seemed to jump out and attack Accenture. If you carefully read what they say, you'll see criticisms like: working there is one level below working for a burger joint. That's a very constructive criticism and sure proves Accenture's inferiority. You will see some serious posts that understand the merits of both sides of the argument (if there was an argument, except it's mostly the Accenture detractors arguing with themselves). "I can't seem to understand why Accenture people are so desperate to prove that they belong among the so called elite startegy firms" OK, that is easy to answer. You can't understand because there is nothing to understand. No one at Accenture is desparate about anything, let alone trying to prove anything. Like I said, if you look at the posts, both here and on other threads, it's everyone else who seems to be bending over backwards trying to prove that Accenture doesn't belong in their neighborhood. It's they who have thrown down the gauntlet and seemed to have made the challege. A few people from Accenture and a few who are not from Accenture read some of those challenging posts and felt like responding -- which is what a message board is supposed to be about. They were not trying to convince anyone of anything, especially a few message board junkies. Accenture never had to flaunt its position. The firm and the people there are very confident in their abilities and their position in the industry. It's the other firms who are blowing their horns and who seem to be afraid of Accenture. There is nothing to be afraid of [ I'm sure some college kid is going to quote me on that and say something clever like "yeah, there's nothing to be afraid of 'cause Accenture sucks the exhaust from our BMWs" -- and that't the kind of stuff we just have to ignore] I'm not putting you down, so please don't get insulted, but you really don't know enough about the subject (yet) to make a judgement.

It looks like you have something to prove to me.
