Strategy Advice for a Canadian |

I'm a Canadian in the EMBA program of the top Canadian business school. Upon completing of this program in June, I'm hoping to change careers, pursuing a career as a strategic/management consultant. In particular, I'm hoping to find a firm that is willing to hire me to the US - I'm willing to pay for the costs associated with the transfer but I need to have a job lined up first. Any suggestions?
Would finding a job as a consultant in Canada improve my opportunities for employment in the US? Finally, I have almost 14 years of finance experience in a specific industry but I do not want to continue in this industry. I've applied to E&Y, PWC for example as a consultant in this industry and they're turning me down? Is it because I'm Canadian? I would like to think that my previous work experience would be of value to them.
