In Reply To: Whilst books etc.. can help they can also give you a dangerously small amount of info. It's best to apply common sense and figure it out - a lot of firms don't like fancy framework approaches in interviews particullarly if you only know a bit about business and therfore don't have the full depth of knowledge you possibly need to understand what you are tryting to apply. Read the books but don't rely on them
Message: I agree with the previous poster. that said, here is the bible that got me a great job: Management Consulting : A Complete Guide to the Industry by Sugata Biswas, Daryl Twitchell (Hardcover - January 1999) it's brilliant, and I found it recommended on one of the Vault boards, actually, so now I feel like my karma is complete by passing it on. just remember, in the spirit of the previous post: you want to internalize these things, absorb the frameworks as a way of being an internal checklist over what things to think about and what things to be sure to hit when discussing a business problem. don't mechanically spout out what's in the book. AND, take the book's advice, and practice endlessly with other people, especially other consultants. as much as anything, there is a style and method to these things as much as there are answers.
