Message Name: Name more important than ability, however

In Reply To: I got my BA in Economics and Masters of Science degree in Engineering Management. I recieved both degrees from The George Washington University. My GPA was (3.6). I have no prior experience. I have an interview with Mckinsey in two weeks for a position in their Middleast office. Basically, what are the chances of me getting in??
Message: The name on your diploma is certainly more important that your GPA or your ability, HOWEVER, those things are still important. Behavior and "look" on your interview, as well as how well you prove your problem solving skills will go a long way. These things would be less important (but still not UNimportant) if you had the right school name on your diploma or if your parents were from or knew someone at a high level at one of our client firms. You have a shot. Don't listen to those others. Once you DO get in, then after 2 or 3 years we will give you a place at one of those name schools so you can come back with the same credential as everyone else and our clients will be none the wiser. Good luck.
