Marakon is making a name for itself, but it's still a long way from being in the same category as Monitor or Accenture.
Nevertheless, there are some advantages to joining an up-and-(hopefully)-coming firm. For one thing, you get a better shot at reaching a leadership position at the firm should the time comes that the firm really grows (since you were there in the 'early' days). Also, it will be harder to get lost in the crowd. You may get a better chance to be rotated around different kinds of engagements, thus increasing the span and scope of your skills. |

I went to a top three B-school and can tell you that out of the people who wanted to go into consulting, Monitor and Marakon were heads and shoulders above Accenture (or AC at the time) AC had the reputation for paying more, but no self-respecting MBA would actually work for them if they had had offers from either one of the other two. They were kind of a joke.
