I agree with "Boooyahhhh." except I'm upset that he brought this acrimonious thread back from the dead.
ah well. since it's alive, I'll point out another great part of consulting - the learning curves are much steeper, the execution phases much more rapid. in industry, you spend a little time on a shallow learning curve, and then months to years executing.
keep in mind also, that the average age of consultants in the top firms is something like 28. very young. when the travel/bullshit/competition/hours gets too intense, and you've got a family, etc., then most of them hop out, taking their substantial training and broad experience to one of those cushy industry jobs, executing to their heart's content until retirement. it's a nice path. for the few tough nuts that claw up to the top of the consulting firms, well, more power to 'em. |

Apparently you have no experience working at a top consulting firm. Your ignorance shows in your response. It helps when people like you dont comment about fields that they have no true insights into.
