In Reply To: if you cannot make an objective and logical analysis of the situation. (So don't even think of McK!-) Seriously though, try to break it down by what is important to you. It sounds like your top two criteria were money and prestige, and if that alone were the case then I'd recommend GS. But truely, is there nothing else? What kind of work means the most to you? And what do you want to do long-term? Maybe if you concentrate on where you want to go after this experience, then you can weigh the skill set that each position will give you.
Message: I use to work in GS Risk Markets and now work for McKinsey. GS Risk Markets is not actually IBD but rather a "JV" between IBD and FICC. In any event, structuring catastrophe bonds is not a great career-builder (even with the GS name). IMHO, the prestige of GS really resided in the IBD/M&A work. If you work in one of these groups, it will really open doors for you. Other groups within Goldman are less attractive in this regard.
