In Reply To: ...you are a wealth of generalizations. While it is very true that an Ivy League school does command quite a bit more attention from consulting firms, it is not necessarily deserved. All in all, consulting firms are hedging their bets because they have way too many applications to sift through. In truth, you will find a higher percentage of intelligent people at the Ivy Leagues. That does not mean that you won't find highly intelligent people at the "state schools." Please be honest and admit that, although intelligence and "good numbers" does play a part in getting into an Ivy League, the other part (such as parents being an alumni and such) plays a large part as well. I've known several unintelligent people who have gone to Ivy Leagues and continue to succeed in the system on that alone. To all those not in Ivy League schools, I am currently getting an MBA from a second-tier, and I have 3 pending consulting interviews. If you have the right background and experience, and you market yourself well, you can get past the barrier. Don't give up until you try. P.S. When you said "there smart enough," I think you meant "they're smart enough."
Message: people, i see many people around me at penn are snobs and are have cocky attitudes, but saying that all ivy leaguers are snobs is a little bit of an offense to me. maybe it's because unlike most of them, i not only had to be good enough to get here, but much better than all the international applicats applying for financial aid. so there you go.
