Do all management consultants have to travel extensively? Is there a position in consulting that doesn't require extensive travel? Appreciate any comments.

Well - just make sure going in that you pick a position or live in a city that will let you reduce your travel.
in the last two years I flew about 140k miles per year. i have mba classmates that live in nyc that have had all their projects in nyc and have only ocassionaly travelled for conducting market research/conventions/junkets.
