As a Upenn undergrad who has attended several consulting recruiting events, I am disappointed to find that these companies are quite homogenous. Where is the diversity? Yes, many companies rattle off about their diversity initiatives, but its existence acknowledges the very problem.
Why is it rare to find minorities in senior management? And if so, just one. Top schools produce fairly high caliber minority candidates. Are they hired but not retained? Are they not considered " a good fit with company culture" ?
As uncomfortable as this topic may be for some people, it is even more unsettling for minority college grads.
What are the best companies to work for? I am excited about a career in consulting, but a diverse work environment is a top priority. I've been told Monitor is quite diverse...but I am sure that there are some others.
You do not have to be a minority to answer this question, just a very observant, considerate person.
Thanks and hope to get a reply
