I don't agree with Brian. Most strat houses are doing PMI-jobs, I know of pojects guided by McK, BCG, etc. This is because (1) these assignments can be relly interesting and (2) there is a lot of money in that. (E.g. the AstraZeneca PMI has a budgetof +1 bill $) Also, the real challenge of PMI is not the " beancounting". This takes place before the merger or acquisition takes place. PMI is about bringing together organizations, both structure- and culture-wise, to create IT-infrastructures, etc.
