I've been trying to get a summer internship in consulting, but it is proving very difficult.
I am in a joint degree program getting my BS and MBA (with a year and a half left). Recruiters do not come to my school anymore, as it has become more of an I-Banking school. Furthermore, in e-mailing alum I have found out that there are few undergrad spots available over the summer (for which you need connections) and I am not qualified for an MBA level position (since I don't have any experience).
Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? I don't think online applications will get the job done and I really don't want to be jobless over the summer.
Thanks!!! |

you should not try to get into the big firms that have already hired interns. rather find a small one without an intern program such as an incubator or something and try to see if you can work for free. if you can go to info sessions at other schools that have recruiters that you would like to talk to then go for it. you need to get experience! since you will lose out to mbas when looking for full time positions. i heard from someone at the andersen school that a student that went straight from undergrad got screwed in the job market because all the mbas had more experience than him.
goodluck
