I'm really not sure if you can request to be in Boston. If you currently go to school there or if your family is there, I think you can come up with a compelling reason for them to place you in Boston, but it really isn't guaranteed.
There are some drawbacks to being in Boston that you may want to think about. First, you won't be able to attend most of the SEO lunches. I thought these lunches were the best part of SEO, since you get together with the other consulting interns and have lunch at all the other firms in the program. It's a great networking and recruiting tool, and since there's only 20 of you, you really have a chance to leave an impression. It also puts you lightyears ahead when you're doing campus recruiting since you already know all the recruiters and some people in each firm.
BCG and Monitor are pretty prestigious, but they may not be the best firms for you. SEO is really a program for you to get to know all the firms so you have the information to find a good fit. Honestly, every firm in SEO is awesome, so you really don't have to worry about the resume power of a Kearney or Booz vs. McKinsey. Good luck! |
