In Reply To: Depends on the coast the prestige, here on the West Coast UCLA has an amazing reputation. and on the east coast in NYC it is good. Ignore average salary, it is the worst bogus statistic. Every top school gets the same salary, the deviation is as follows: 1. Profession: A school with more banking and less consulting will get a lower salary, since banking is mainly bonus and most salary figures do not include bonus, or only include signing bonus, not stub bonus. Also, entreprenuerial schools will have more low salaries. 2. Different schools calculate salary differently. Better to use % going into each profession, each school publishes that figure. Another tip: Ask of the consulting, how many go to the elite 3, of the banking, how many go to BB. Admin office might give you that, maybe not. Final tip: How many go into VC, the grand daddy job of the MBA. Nice indicator, not perfect. Good Luck. You can't lose with those three. As a ULCA grad, I know which one I would push ;)
Message: With Darden/Fuqua/Anderson, I agree the stats will all be very close. You will be able to get a good job from any of them. A big decision-maker for me was "fit" with the school. Visit them all, go to class, meet your future classmates. See if the environment is one you will enjoy. Personally, I'm at Darden and I think it was definitely the right choice for me. I am a very practical thinker, so applying the concepts daily in class using the case method, and working with a learning team every day help me to really learn how to apply the concepts. Also, the student body here is extremely cooperative and social. Everyone wants to do well, but we don't try to cut anyone else down in the process. But you have to make your own decision. It's expensive to visit all 3 schools, but it will be a 2 year investment in your life that you won't have the opportunity to repeat. Take your time, do your research, call students/alumni, make the right decision for you.
