In Reply To: Brian, KAS, Mck Insider, etc. Do you have an answer for the gentleman with the Stanford PhD concerning the Exec MBA vs the 2yr MBA? To all those reading this board in the future, please note that if the real questions are not answered then these threads are just a bunch of bullshit and the people posting them are not real consultants but just a bunch of folks screwing around. Do not waste your time on this site. This site should have some type of screening process along with maintaining confidentiality if that is possible.
Message: I'm not on PD anymore, so I've not had time to respond. Rick (aka McK Insider) has left the firm to manage money, so I doubt he cares anymore. =============== I would go with the two year MBA. You can actually apply to McK directly with the PhD. If your end goal is to work at McK, then apply and see if you get in on the APD program. If not, then get the two year MBA. I don't think Exec MBAs are great unless you have senior management exposure. Middle managers with EMBAs will sometimes get offers from consulting firms, but I don't think it's a strong of a signal as an MBA. Also, the pool of companies recruiting EMBAs is smaller than those recruiting regular MBAs, because most EMBAs are going back to their sponsoring companies, hence there's little EOS in recruiting them.
