True that in consulting one will be making less than the new graduates (Bachelors or MBAs). However, if you decide to ask for a raise, please make sure you understand how the compensation model of your firm works. You must understand what is your net worth and how that net worth is calculated. If you say that you are adding value, is that not whay you were expected to do? if you have added value above and beyond your level, then measure it in terms of its worth...did you sell work? did you complete a project under budget? WHAT IS YOUR VALUE ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DO? if you have no measurable value, then you dont deserve a raise...best thing...quit and join another firm...you will make much more...by the way there is no way you can negotiate a higher salary...consulting firms dont let you do it. |

of course it happens in consulting. that is good advice-figure out whether or not you can show you have added value above and beyond then ask for it. you'll never get what you want unless you ask. no one's going to give you a raise on their own if they are not aware that you deserve it. just ask. especially at boutiques, they are much mroe willing to give raises to keep employees happy. you need to ask for what you want and if you deserve it, you shall receive!
