In Reply To: I'm on the beach...literally! I haven't worked in over a month now. So I am going to start chronicaling my adventures as a beached consultant in LA. It's really nice because I changed my contact number in K-WEB to my cell phone right. My partner is in NYC or something. She was like, you need to go into the office every day. I do this for about a week and then I'm like, screw this you dumb "cat." I go to the beach every day now, sometimes to Santa Monica, sometimes to Manhattan, surfed at Malibu three or four days ago...or at least tried to. Every Monday I like to go in and chat it up with the admins. Sometimes I drive over to Orange county for a change of pace. It was fun! Last Monday, I got up real early and fought traffic like I had a real job. After getting to our swank Orange County office, I decided that it was time for a break and hightailed it to Laguna for a power nap. Has anyone noticed all the gay people there? -not that there is anything wrong with that. But I'm just wondering, why are there so many people on the beach on a week day??? Anyhow the point was, is anyone else getting paid for doing nothing, or is it just me? K-boy
Message: It was f*cking freezing today in LA. Like it was almost 55 degrees. So I decided to go hangout at all the shops and stuff in downtown Santa Monica. Okay, I just want to warn everyone. Do NOT go to the sushi place at the very end of Santa Monica Blvd. It is totally overpriced for their bogus menu and service. I ordered a Seaweed salad appetizer and instead of the usual cellophane noodles I recieved a bunch of like lettuce leaves. So I'm like "what the hell is this?" and the waiter gets all indignant and is like "It's seaweed salad." So I'm like "Well this isn't the way every other freakin sushi place makes Seaweed salad" Needless to say I had it sent back. Get this, the guy is still arguing with me when he brings out my sushi order. So I'm just like look you idiot, you're a caucasian working in a sushi restaurant and I on the other hand am getting paid $82,000 a year base salary to sit on my ass and do nothing but get bad service from you, so there. Oh yeah my dumbass resource manager calls today and tells me that I need to be more proactive in finding an engagement. I'm like WHAT? Since when do I have to find an engagement at my own company?? So I say "nope, that's you're job. What the hell have *YOU* been doing this whole time??" Somehow I don't think this went over too well. But seriously since when is it a consultants responsibility to get placed on an engagement. I've talked with friends in other parts of the company and they have had similar stories. Total BS KPMG style. Well I have to run and grab a Jamba Juice. I'll be sure to keep u all up to date on my exciting life as a consultant. Over and Out, K-boy
