In Reply To: PwC's strategy practice is huge and growing, ranked third overall. The thought leadership in the best-selling Metacapitalism and PwC's work in e-markets is unparalleled. That said, the DC office of PwC is also heavily geared towards work with the federal government. In terms of general reputation, Booz is considered more of a pure strat firm, whereas Accenture and PwC are more process/systems oriented.
Message: I agree with you on all counts except I would state that there is no such thing as strategy work in the public sector. The word strategy presupposes competition, which does not exist in the public sector. Thus, everything is a question of process and efficiency where the public sector is concerned. Sorry to split hairs, but no one that I've spoken to in the Washington DC area thinks of Booz as a strategy firm, but more so as a process/systems integration contractor for the federal gov't, with competitors such as SAIC. Outside metro DC of course is a different issue.
