In Reply To: I have recently moved to the US (as a result of my husband's job), and am trying to break into consulting. I have a BA from a top five University in the UK (equiv. to a 3.8 GPA), have worked for two years as an fx trader and three years as a commodities trader/e-Business strategist for a multi-national company. I also have a total GMAT of 700 (97 percentile), and speak four languages. Yet I am getting no calls back - is there anyone out there who would be prepared to look at / critique my resume and cover letter? Is there any hope for international candidates or is it all (as some of the messages on the board suggest) restricted to candidates from Ivy League schools in the US? Any strategy tips / advice v.much appreciated - as you can imagine, I don't have much of a network here in the US yet! Thanks very much!!!
Message: Dear 'Please help', I'd be interested to know how you've got on. Personally, I suspect that what was keeping you from getting a better response was: first, that Warwick is not well known in the US-- and second, and even more importantly, that you are a married woman. What I've heard is that consulting is extremely sexist, and that, if you're a married woman, or over 30 and a single woman, they assume you're going to start having kids any minute now and become A Problem.
