I would like to hear people's opinions on business models for buyer aggregation in ecommerce. What do people think of sites/companies like accompany.com and buyersunite.com that try to assemble a group of buyers without building brand equity from one product market, e.g., going from being known as a car selling site to one that assembles people for all kinds of products ? What would be the best way for a non-techie MBA to get involved in this ? What classes/knowledge would I need to gain ? Would consulting experience first help ? What firms have ecommerce practices where one could learn what's necessary ?
Thanks
