I am looking at a job opening at the Strategy & Coroporate Finance Practice at Mck. I have 3+ years experience in Investment Banking.
I would appreciate any inputs on inner workings of this group, the kind of people they are targetting and preparation tips for hte interview.

I have just completed the entire interview process. It seems that McK places great importance on characteristics such as leadership and academic excellence. However, these are prerequisites for obtaining an interview. In my opinion, winning the job comes down to your performance on their case question. In retrospect my suggestions are as follows:
1. Choose your words very carefully. It is better to say nothing at all than to say something that may be way off. Remember, they are trying to evaluate your thought process and your mouth can either make or break you.
2. If you don't know, ask. I found that most of the interviewers were extremely polite and courteous and most importantly, willing to help. However, I found they became less willing in the final round, especially the more senior people. Therefore, in the first rounds, ask questions.
3. Demonstrate strong analytical skills. A friend of mine, who was denied a position after the final round, mentioned that his interviewer was suprised when he multiplied two large numbers together on paper. He concluded that the interviewer expected him to be able to do such things in his head.
