With an attitude like that, I would not want you making photocopies for me let alone consider hiring you for my team !
Any consultant worth his or her salt, including many sophomores I know, understands that character slamming (stupid and worthless as 90% of the other managers...) and unwarranted generalization is shallow, unprofessional and emphasizes its absence.
As with any industry, consulting has the good, the bad and the ugly too. I hear you loud and clear that BIG 5 is not your cup of tea. Great, I am glad you know that -- but please don't slam them all. One branch may be miles ahead of a another branch (in terms of work environment, compensation, and challenge) but still affiliated with the same firm. In your consulting work, you don't generalize in creating solutions for your Clients, do you ? Why do you do so here ?
From your bitterness, it sounds like you were dealt some of the bad...maybe even a touch of the ugly -- that's unfortunate. But here is something to think about -- the BIG 5 became the BIG 5 because they (and the consultants who worked for them) were GOOD. I have never worked for a BIG 5 but I have worked with them and was blown away in a few instances.
I would suggest that you rethink your opinion about the BIG 5 and the consulting industry in general.
Good Luck...maybe I will see on the other side of a conference table in an interview sometime...
