In Reply To: to all professionals inside or outside these two industries: I would appreciate your valuable insight on the matter. so what's better for an undergrad? Being young and having years ahead of us to ultimately secure financial freedom. Yes getting to the point of making a lot of money so that I can retire early. Not Bill Gates type of "rich" but rich enough that I can buy a Ferrari and a half a million dollar house and still be secure.. I banking or Consulting? What is a good FIRST career move? Because experience is important should a recently graduated undergrad go to consulting vs. Ibanking although I banking offers almost double the salary; because consulting offers a more diverse line of work that could probably best prepare me for eventually starting up a company or working for another large firm later and getting a higher salary because of my consulting experience (is this true?) or do you recommend that I work my ass off in Ibanking till I get enough money and make a career of it? Also consulting offers a healthier lifestyle. Is the big salary I banking offers worth the long 80+hour weeks? What's more prestigious and valued when applying to business school and other companies: Past consulting or I banking experience? THank you Martini
Message: Consulting is definitely the way to go right now. Better experience, better life balance and overall better money.
