In Reply To: Thanks, Thom! I'm coming to Boston in Feb. sometime to look at different housing options and will probably do so again around summer time. How many people actually have a car in Boston? Is it a burden to have one?
Message: It depends. Parking can DEFINITELY be a pain, all over the Boston area. You will hate having a car right after snowstorms, when the snowplows have more or less elimated 50% of the parking spaces. Since public transportation is relatively good, this doesn't matter too much. If you can find a place with a parking spot, this is good. You should also enquire if your employer has parking or not. But having a car when you need it is definitely nice. Theres lots to do outside of Boston as well and without a car its quite annoying to do it. I'd ask your new co-workers what they think. Since I am a student, I don't have to worry about parking ever (no car). Might be different for you, though.
