I'm not exactly sure what the average starting for Wharton is, but say it's 90k...that's not really everything. That would just be salary, not the end-year bonus. I think it's really around 120-150k a year after everything is said and done. |

It really depends on what position you are going to take. I would focus on the salary stats for the specific field you are pursuing. Most investment bankers I know will make $200-$250 the first full year after graduation. Consultants are in the $150-200 range. Hi-techies packages are entirely dependant on the type of compensation (cash vs. options) they want. The stats published for starting salaries are for the initial stub year (Aug-Dec). They include a signing bonus which is a one-time bonus. The stub year-en bonus for bankers is guaranteed at $30k; however, it may be more. The first full-year bonus should be in the $100-$150 range so you can see that the published stat does not accurately reflect what will be earned during the "first year".
