Message: What is this obsession with retiring so early? (45 as in post below. I've also seen comments like this elsewhere. Also making the comment that one wouldn't have many useful years left after 34 - that's a bit extreme isn't it? Especially given the fact that we are all living much longer lives. What is the goal in retiring so early, to sit around watching the grass grow?). Many people who could retire don't because they enjoy what they do and don't just regard their jobs as "what one does to pay the bills." It seems to me that these switchers are trying to find fulfilling, challenging careers and I applaud them for that (especially since they are already being well compensated). As for the person who wants to get into venture funds, you may not have to get an MBA to do that. I've heard of former attorneys getting key positions at venture funds and internet companies. Perhaps you should do a little more searching is this area by attending industry events etc. etc. Good luck.
