First, I'd like to clarify that age is not a barrier for admission to the top schools. Second, the average age of incoming students is increasing each year at the top schools and your age is completely within this average. For your reference, I'll start my MBA at Wharton this fall and I'm 31.
I believe that age can only be an issue depending on the industry you intend to work upon graduation. I-banking seems to prefer younger people because the recruiters believe that younger people will be more willing to work long hours, but again, I think it all depends on your previous work experience and the caliber of your school. |

You will be older than the average student but not by very much. I am graduating from a top 3 at age 35 and had absolutely zero problems landing multiple summer and full-time i-banking offers. FYI, I was a career switcher with no prior banking experience. As long as you have good reason for going back to B-School a little later, and show good career progression, age should not be a major hinderance to your admission.
Don't waste time worrying about your age. Chances are, other determinants will weigh heavier in your competitiveness as an applicant. You don't want to forever regret not applying either.
Good luck!
