Hi Vault Member!
I decided to go the regular MBA route for a myriad of reasons which include the network, the b-school experience, and to enter VC or start a dot-com. After weighing all my options I finally decided that a full-time MBA was the route to take. My problem with a part-time MBA is the time it takes to get it, the lost opportunity to network with my fellow B-School class-mates on entrepreneurial ventures, the lost opportunity to evaluate other careers, the lack of b-school comraderie and learning from each other that is a hall-mark of the B-School experience, and the lost opportunity for everyday interaction with my peers.
Which top-5 school are you thinking of attending? Just curious.
P.S. - Everyone I talked to in the industries I was intersted in working in post-MBA advised me to go and get the regular MBA.
Hope this helps a little. All in all, it is a highly personal decision and not an easy one for sure. I went thru this self-examination process over the course of 2 years. One thing I did know was that I would not do the full-time program unless I could get in at H/S/MIT/K. For me that was the hurdle I placed on myself. Having done so, I can honestly say that I am extremely excited about my choice. I can hardly wait for the program to begin.
Good Luck on your decision.
Best Wishes,
