The first graduating class of the Honors Program was in 1999, and that consisted of about 30 students. There ar no 1998 grads. Since I am not concentrating on getting a job in IB, I would suggest that you call the Graduate Career Services office and speak with Phil Meade (he's the director). The number is 212-802-2267.
Overall, I would say that many of the students in my class (class of 2001) are CIS and Accountancy majors. The school has really built an impressive reputation in these 2 areas. I am a Finance major, but I am interested in Sales and Trading. The school knows that it must beef up its Finance dept. and has made great efforts to do so. In 1997, it hired a top Finance Prof. from NYU. It also has been inviting some heavy hitter Alums back to the school to speak with Honors students (eg, Chairman & CEO of PaineWebber). You will be quite surprised at how many Baruch Alums are CEOs.
As far as students looking for IB internships....the school is building up its relationships with many IBs (eg, my friend just interviewed for SG Cowen ), but you have to do your share of networking.
Again, let me know if you have any more questions. |

Krism, what was your GMAT score (and average of the program)? Is there a big difference between Honors and regular MBA programs at Baruch? And do big firms know that there is a difference when you apply for a job?
What's the name of this top finance professor from NYU? Thanks
