In Reply To: Hi I would value your opinion and advice. I have an MD(from the UK). 6 yrs work exp as Surgeon. Will be studying for MBA at Michigan(Ann Arbor)fall 2000. Would love to go into Consulting. 1) What are my chances (considering I have no business background) 2)What is the interview process like for Post MBA's(i.e do they also take the Quant exams, 3 stage interviews etc...) Much appreciated
Message: I am a current student at top 5 program with experience at multiple consulting firms. With an MBA from Michigan, you should be able to make the transition to consulting in the U.S. I don't know how well known Michigan is in the U.K., but you are probably in a better position to assess European recruiting at Michigan. One consulting firm you might consider if you want to use your MD, is Ernst & Young Consulting Services. The firm has just been bought by Cap Gemini, and is going through some turmoil, but it has an excellent Healthcare Consulting practice. The HC practice works exclusively with healthcare providers, doing all the process, IT, and strategy stuff that regualar management consultants do. Perhaps other people on the board could name some other firms that might utilize your MD. Good luck!
